In an increasingly digital retail landscape, shoppers are bombarded with online shopping options. However, physical stores still offer unique experiences that can’t be replicated online. SHOPEST aimed to bridge the gap between digital and in-store shopping by leveraging location-based technology, creating a seamless experience that encourages users to explore nearby stores while browsing online.

As the UI and Interactive Designer, I focused on refining the user interface to clearly highlight SHOPEST’s distinctive feature: location-based shopping experiences. The app's interface was structured to guide users effortlessly from online browsing to discovering nearby physical stores, using prompts and interactive elements that surfaced local deals and events. Additionally, I designed a flexible UI that adapted seamlessly to user preferences and real-time location data.

Seamless Transition Between Online and In-Store

To ensure users could effortlessly shift between online shopping and exploring nearby stores, I designed flows that integrated location-based alerts at key points during the user journey. The flow began with product browsing, and upon detection of relevant nearby stores or sales, users were gently guided towards in-store options with contextual prompts. This created a fluid experience, encouraging users to discover nearby stores without disrupting their online shopping experience. Additionally, I implemented a search flow that prioritized proximity-based results, allowing users to filter stores or products based on current location.

Smart Recommendations Flow

A key aspect of the SHOPEST experience was its recommendation engine, which I incorporated into the user flow by presenting users with curated lists of nearby sales and events. The design funnel guided users through a tailored process, starting with browsing preferences, and leading them to local stores offering sales or promotions based on real-time data.

Branded, Clean Interface

The UI design for SHOPEST emphasized a clean and cohesive brand identity. I incorporated the brand's color palette and typography throughout the app to create a visually consistent experience. The use of spacious layouts, elegant typography, and branded buttons ensured that the interface felt polished and professional, while remaining easy to navigate. To keep the experience uncluttered, I used a minimalistic approach with ample white space, allowing the focus to stay on the core features like location-based shopping and store recommendations.4o

Location-Aware Interfaces

The UI needed to reflect SHOPEST's core feature: location-based shopping experiences. I introduced subtle cues such as dynamic maps and proximity indicators within the interface, ensuring users were always aware of nearby sales and events. Using clean layouts and minimalistic design principles, I balanced the interface’s complexity with the need for a simple, intuitive experience. Interactive elements, such as swipeable product cards and a location-based store carousel, allowed users to navigate through a large product database effortlessly.

Custom UI Icons

The iconography within SHOPEST was designed to be intuitive, immediately signaling the app’s core functionalities. Icons representing nearby sales, events, and store recommendations were crafted with simplicity in mind, using universally recognized symbols for maps, stores, and promotions. For example, nearby stores were marked with a clean, modern location pin, while sales events were denoted by minimalistic discount icons that didn’t clutter the interface.
